High River is located 30 minutes south of Calgary; a growing community with all the services, but a small town atmosphere. High River offers beautiful mountain views, murals in the downtown area, two man made lakes (one stocked with fish), parks, a museum and the Happy Trails walking paths.
Health Care: High River Hospital and Charles Clark Medical Centre
Schools: Foothills School Division #38 offers excellent programs for a number of elementary, middle and high schools that are accessible from Hi-Wood Meadows.
Hi-Wood Meadows is on the school bus route for public & Catholic schools.
Shopping/Conveniences: A Mac’s convenience store is just a 2 minute drive away. Extra Foods, (a division of the Superstore grocery chain), is located within a 10 minute walk. A 5 minute drive gives you access to Sobey’s, gift shops, clothing shops, hardware shops, banks, movie theatre, doctors and lawyers offices as well as the High River Hospital.
Day Care: There are several daycare facilities and day-homes in the area run by competent and caring residents of High River.
A 30 minute drive to Calgary or 15 minute drive to Okotoks, provides shopping at large chain stores including Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire and Safeway.
Transportation: Taxi service is available to downtown. Also a seniors Handibus. Greyhound bus lines offer daily service to High River. The Good Company Commuter bus also travels into Calgary daily.
Recreation: High River boasts a variety of community clubs and a recreation centre for swimming, curling and hockey. There are 2 golf courses, several baseball diamonds, soccer fields and athletic clubs in High River. The High River Rodeo grounds host rodeos and chuckwagon races throughout the year.
